YCT 2 Vocabulary (Part 1) With Worksheets

YCT 2 Vocabulary (Part 1)

In the series of YCT 2 vocabulary, we separate all of the vocabularies into 6 infographics. This is Part 1. In this YCT 2 Vocabulary (Part 1) infographic, we included ~15 words. We’ve set these vocabulary into two groups and a connector word. Before we start, let’s give you a bit background on what YCT is.

What is YCT

The new YCT test was launched by Hanban in an effort to encourage foreign young students to learn Chinese and improve their Chinese language proficiency. As part of this effort, since 2004 Hanban has organized experts from different disciplines such as Chinese language teaching, linguistics, psychology and educational measurement to work on the program, conducting surveys in order to understand the latest trends in overseas Chinese language teaching and learning.

The new YCT consists of a writing test and a speaking test, which are independent of each other. The writing test is divided into four levels, namely, the YCT (level I), YCT (level II), YCT (level III), and YCT (level IV). The speaking test is divided into the YCT (Beginner Level) and YCT (Intermediate Level).

According to Hanban, test takers who are able to pass the YCT (Level II) can understand and use some simple Chinese phrases and sentences and cope with basic level communications.

Group One

The first group (center) includes 我 wǒ I/me 你 nǐ you, 他 tā he/him, 她 tā she/her and 我们 wǒmen we/us.

Group Two

The second group includes 手 shǒu hand, 口 kǒu mouth, 眼睛 yǎnjīng eye, 头发 tóufa hair, 耳朵 ěrduo ear, 鼻子 bízi nose, 脚 jiǎo, and 个子 gèzi height.

The connector word is 的.

You can make a phrase starting from the center and then out towards the petals.

Place 的 (de) between a pronoun (center) and a noun (petals). For example,

他的眼睛 his eyes, 我的手 my hand, 你的个子 your height.
